What If You Were The Chosen One?

Movies and books often feature a prophesised “Chosen One” who’s fated to save the world from some evil. From Harry Potter to Neo in The Matrix, we can’t seem to get enough of heroes whose life purpose is to bring salvation.

The appeal is clear: If there was a prophecy or some sort of test, then there can be no doubt about one’s path. Harry Potter might not like it, but he’s the one who has to bring down Voldemort, even if the books emphasise that it’s due to personal choices as much as the prophecy.

I know, I know – that’s all fiction, right? But have you ever wondered what it would be like to be “chosen”? What if only you and no-one else could make the changes happen?

The truth about your life purpose

Funnily enough, you actually are the only one who can make things happen, because there’s nobody else exactly like you on the planet; let that truism really sink in for a moment. What follows is that your passions, your purpose, the thing you’re here to do in this lifetime, can’t be accomplished by anyone else, at least not in the same way.

Do you realise the ramifications of this insight? You actually are the “Chosen One”! All right, so maybe the world won’t end if you don’t fulfil your purpose, but it’ll be missing the unique contribution only you can make.

Life’s not a rehearsal

What would it mean to be the Chosen One? Think about it.

  • Would you look after yourself more responsibly?
  • Would you invest time, effort, and money into finding your purpose?
  • Perhaps you’d stop procrastinating?
  • Would you dare to take your passion seriously?
  • Would you finally believe that your contribution is needed?

Maybe it’s time to accept that your life purpose is real. Will you act accordingly?
